TRAITORS fans are convinced that the show ‘stole’ huge twist from rival US reality show.
The popular BBC show made its return to screen this week and fans were shocked by the line-up of contestants.
In episode three of the second instalment of The Traitors, fans were left open-mouthed by a secret revelation.
It was revealed that 63-year-old retired teacher Diane. is the mother of 28-year-old video director Ross.
This was despite the rest of the contestants thinking that Diane was the mother of 36-year-old business manager Paul.
However, this is not the first time that a mother and child duo has appeared together on reality TV.
In the series 25 of Big Brother USA, mother and son duo Cirie Fields and Jared Fields entered the famous house.
Cirie, 53, is no stranger to reality TV as she also competed in four different series of Survivor.
She also won the first series of The Traitors USA that was streamed on Peacock.
It was also memorable that in the 14th series of Big Brother UK, mum and daughter duo Jackie and Charlie Travers entered the house.
Reality TV fans took to X – formerly known as Twitter– in their droves as they bemoaned the latest twist in the game.
One fan exclaimed: “Not a motherson twist pls i can’t do another motherson twist #TheTraitors.”
A second noted: “We did have the couple last year lying for a while that they didn’t know each other…. Not totally impossible there is mother/son duo this year 
#TheTraitors
“The mother/son twist on #thetraitors is so cheap and ruins the whole show by giving an advantage to those two. Boring and hack,” fumed a third user.
As a fourth sarcastically put: “OOOOH mother and son in the traitors #TheTraitors.”
As a fifth viewer wrote: “Watching #TheTraitors now, the mother and son twist, there was always going to be something like this wasn’t there.”
They added: “It’s also not the first time it’s happened on reality TV either let’s be honest. 
.”
